Fentanyl Took Our Lives... Don't Let It Take Yours!

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.” John 10:28-29

Our Mission

TK FIGHTS FENTANYL 501 (c)(3) is a faith based organization that has been sharing Fentanyl education and awareness with the community since August 2023. We are here to support the community with harm reduction and help those who are battling substance use or mental health crisis to find the help they need and deserve! See the contact form to find out more and volunteer to help.

"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God" -Hebrews 13:16
About the Founders:
Founders Max and Amber Burger suffered the tragic loss of their daughter to Fentanyl poisoning in 2023. Since then, they have been helping to bring education, mental health support, and harm reduction to the Topeka, Kansas area. They introduced the first Save a Life station in Kansas, making harm reduction tools like Narcan and Fentanyl test strips available to the community. They, along with other bereaved parents, gave testimony to help pass the Good Samaritan Overdose Law in Kansas. Their community of bereaved survivors have become like a second family; and have helped to create a network of advocates making a difference in many communities across cities and state lines. As believers in Jesus Christ, our founders are dedicated to helping others in memory of Kaylee and those lost to the Fentanyl crisis.

There are several factors that can increase a person’s risk of overdosing. They include:

Changes in tolerance from not using or using less. This happens after being in-patient, in jail, or following a period of less or no opioid use.
Changes in the drug supply.
Mixing opioids with respiratory depressants or “downers” such as alcohol or benzodiazepines (benzos).
Mixing opioids with stimulants, such as cocaine and methamphetamine.
Having chronic health conditions such as, HIV, Hepatitis C, lung disease, heart disease, or other health concerns.
History of past overdoses.

STAY! Don't leave the person alone! If someone is in an active overdose and has stopped breathing, you can administer Narcan and help restore breathing until first responders arrive. You can  SAVE A LIFE!

Remember, the Good Samaritan Law provides certain immunities for people who call 9-1-1 and stay in the event of an overdose or Fentanyl poisoning. You would not want someone to leave you alone or your loved one, so please...
STAY!

What is Narcan?
Narcan (nasal spray) is a generic brand containing the active ingredient Naloxone. It is administered as a nasal spray; one 4mg dose for each nostril. When administered, Narcan will reverse the opioid effects that prevent signals in the brain from allowing normal breathing. Usually breathing is restored within one to two minutes of an initial dose. *Naloxone is also available in an intramuscular dose.
